his past glory. Oddly

PHOENIX -- The Toronto Blue Jays roughed up Arizona right-hander Randall Delgado right away, building a three-run lead. Air Max 97 España . Then the Blue Jays went quiet. Real quiet. Struggling after its early burst, Toronto became the first team in 43 years to leave no runners on base in an extra-inning game, losing 4-3 to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday after Willie Bloomquist hit a run-scoring single in the 10th inning. "It was just one of those games," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. The Diamondbacks have gone through an up-and-down season, leaving their playoff hopes clinging by a thread. When it comes to pulling off the walk-off, theyve been one of baseballs best. Against the Blue Jays, Arizona rallied from a three-run deficit after Delgados shaky first inning. Diamondbacks pitchers faced the minimum from then until the 10th inning, when Will Harris (3-0) worked around a baserunner to keep the game tied in Arizonas franchise record-tying 21st extra-inning game. Eric Chavez got the final rally started by blooping a single off Luis Perez (0-1) and pinch-runner Adam Eaton moved to third on A.J. Pollocks single off Jeremy Jeffress. Late on a previous pitch by Jeffress, Bloomquist lined a 1-2, 100-mph fastball off the right-hander through the right side of Torontos drawn-in infield, sending his teammates rushing onto the field to douse the hero with water and dirt. It was Arizonas 13th walk-off hit of the season and the fourth career for Bloomquist, a veteran who didnt seem to particularly enjoy his teammates pigpen antics. "I dont think Bloomquist liked it, but hes usually miserable, anyway," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. "Were like, Cmon, Willie, get dirty. Its a meek sacrifice to get the game-winner in my mind. Its a minimal sacrifice." Rajai Davis homered for the second straight game, a two-run shot, and Edwin Encarnacion added a run-scoring double in the first inning off Delgado. After that, the Blue Jays went quietly. Delgado retired 13 straight batters after the first inning and Toronto became the first team to leave no runners on base in an extra-inning game since Cincinnati on July 20, 1970 at St. Louis, according to STATS Inc. "Delgado really settled in after we put up three on him," Gibbons said. "He started locating his pitches, limited his mistakes." Delgado allowed three runs on four hits with six strikeouts. Blue Jays starter Mark Buehrle had a similar outing. Matt Davidson ended Buehrles scoreless streak at 14 innings with an RBI double in the second inning and Miguel Montero followed with another double to cut Torontos lead to 3-2. The left-hander shook off the shaky inning, working around a pair of baserunners in the third inning before retiring 10 of the next 11 batters. Buehrle was lifted after a walk and a single in the seventh inning, and Chavez followed with a sacrifice fly off Sergio Santos that tied the game at 3-all. Buehrle allowed three runs -- two earned -- on five hits in 6 1-3 innings. "It was a good outing," Gibbons said. "He probably regrets walking Davidson to lead off that inning. He was looking for a strikeout and they got the hit, then Chavez came through. It was just one of those games." NOTES: Members of the Arizona Rattlers appeared before the game with the Arena Football League championship trophy before the game. The Rattlers won their second straight ArenaBowl on Aug. 17. ... Arizona 3B Martin Prado was picked as the NL Player of the Month for August on Wednesday after hitting .374 with four homers and 30 RBIs. ... Toronto starters have allowed three runs or less in seven straight outings. ... Arizona opens a four-game road series against San Francisco on Thursday. RHP Trevor Cahill will start the opener after going 2-0 with a 3.22 ERA his previous four starts. ... Toronto has a day off before starting a three-game series at Minnesota. RHP R.A. Dickey will pitch against Twins RHP Mike Pelfrey in the opener Friday. Air Max 97 Baratas Rebajas . Chief prosecutor Gerrie Nel also accused Pistorius of tailoring his testimony to fit the evidence at the scene. Pistorius denied the accusations. Nel alleged that the Olympic runner changed his aim with his 9 mm pistol to ensure that he hit Steenkamp as she fell back against a magazine rack in a toilet cubicle. Air Max 97 Baratas España . Both of Padakins goals came in the second period while Zane Jones added a single in the first period for Calgary (13-6-4). Hitmen goaltender Chris Driedger finished with 30 saves for the shutout.I always enjoy going back in time and looking at top prospects at the time and seeing if they lived up to their past billing. Lets go back 10 years for example, to Baseball Americas "Top 100" list of prospects that came out in March of 2003. Nine of the Top 10 are with different organizations now than they were then, or in the case of Hideki Matsui, have retired. The one who has remained was the fourth-ranked man on the list, Joe Mauer of the Twins; a catcher then who will likely be playing 1st base in 2014. No. 1 on the list was Mark Teixeira, then of the Texas Rangers, who ultimately wound up with the New York Yankees. No. 3 was Jose Reyes, then of the Mets, who jumped to the Marlins as a free agent before coming over to the Blue Jays a year ago in that mammoth trade with Miami. All in all I counted 10 players on the Top 100 list that one way or the other spent time with the Blue Jays, but most were acquired, not drafted or developed. The List of 10 included catchers John Buck and Jeff Mathis, outfielders Jayson Werth and Juan Rivera, 1B Lyle Overbay, reliever Jon Rauch, right-hander Jason Arnold and another veteran right-hander who was owned by the Jays, but never really pitched for them, in Edwin Jackson who was part of the three-way deal with the White Sox and St. Louis that brought Colby Rasmus to Toronto. The other two are the only two still with the club in Reyes and right-hander Dustin McGowan, who was No. 36 on that list of 100 in 2003. There was some on the Baseball America list who were clearly overrated and turned out to be busts, while others were clearly underrated and exploded into superstars. Taking the later first, Miguel Cabrera, the best all-round hitter in baseball was only rated 12th then. Dodgers star shortstop Hanley Ramirez was only pegged at No. 19; Phillies ace leftty Cliff Lee checked in at No. Comprar Air Max 97 Baratas. 30 and Dodgers 1st baseman Adrian Gonzalez at 31. You can dig even deeper to find greatness. Zack Greinke, just 19 at the time, was only ranked 54th. Shin-soo Choo, who just signed a seven-year deal with Texas, was owned by Seattle at the time and only ranked 61st. Going deep still, you have Mets captain David Wright at No. 75 and Prince Fielder now with Texas at No. 78 Jayson Werth, whos had a fairly impactful career, was listed at No. 94 and the aforementioned Edwin Jackson was No. 99. Some of those who didnt pan out as expected, No. 2 Rocco Baldelli, though illness factored into that. Right-hander Jesse Foppert of the Giants, No. 5 on the list, never really  blossomed either. Some of the others who never really made it include 1B Jason Stokes of the Marlins (No. 15), 1B Brad Nelson of the Brewers (No. 23) and right-hander John VanBenschoten of the Pirates (No. 24). The top Canadian on the list was the Twins Justin Morneau at No. 14, whos now with Colorado. Two other names of note: Cardinals ace right-hander Adam Wainright, then of Atlanta was No. 18 and  Josh Hamilton, who began his career with the Devil Rays as they were then known, was No. 33. He then proceeded to Cincinnati, Texas, and finally to the Angels, where hes trying to recapture his past glory. Oddly enough of the 100 prospects on this list I counted only five that were still with organization that drafted them: McGowan, Wright, Chase Utley, Colby Lewis, and Mauer. Thats a 95% turnover in 10 years. Consider: the World Series as we know it has been around since 1903, I was surprised to find out the first pinch-hit homer in the Fall Classic didnt come until 1947 with Yankees Hall of Famer Yogi Berra doing the honours at old Ebbetts Field in Brooklyn against the Dodgers.
